Top Questions About Animal Treatments

The Reiki Vet Nurse

What is reiki?

Everything and everyone is made up of energy and we are all connected though this energy.  Reiki originated in Japan and literally means 'universal (rei) energy (ki)' and animals feel and are very open to receiving this gentle, natural energy. Animals naturally pick up on all energies around them and it's natural for them to let the beautiful reiki energy flow through them, healing as it does.

Do you treat animals in their own home/paddock/field?

Yes, I come to you, as I think it allows the animal to be more relaxed.  I normally ask for dogs to have had their walk and been to the toilet.  I also ask that we are in one room, where the animal feels most at ease.  I can offer reiki to farm animals and horses in their paddock from a distance or in their barn/stable.  I don't ask for them to be tied up, as I prefer to let them move freely.

How long is a reiki session?

The consultations are around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?

Yes, reiki has many benefits for animals suffering with long-term conditions, such as arthritis, cancer, diabetes, thyroid problems and many more, it can alleviate the symptoms during treatment and allow the animal to relax, which is when the body heals.  â€‹Reiki can also be offered to pets coming to the end of their lives and can be most profound at this challenging time.  It's a beautiful energy for your pet and you, and gives you both peace and comfort in the precious time before and during their transition.

What should I expect from the first session?

As the Reiki Vet Nurse, I understand that your pet is a beloved member of your family. That's why I offer a unique and gentle approach to promote healing and balance in your pet's body and mind. During the initial consultation, I take the time to get to know your pet, listen to their history, and provide a shorter reiki treatment. I let your pet guide me on whether to give hands-on or hands-off treatment. Any communication I receive from your pet I will pass on to you. My goal is to help your pet achieve a state of peace and relaxation, leading to improved health and well-being.

Can you tell me what's wrong with my pet?

No, I can't diagnose, but if you suspect there may be a health issue, I would always advise to seek the advice of your vet, as well as receiving reiki.  Reiki is not a replacement for veterinary treatment or medicine, but aids as a complement to it and can help reduce any side effects of this treatment.

Can I have a reiki treatment?

Yes, I also offer reiki to the lovely animal parents at Modbury Therapy Rooms. It's deeply relaxing and I target any problem areas you discuss with me.
